What I Learned
My main technical challenge was implementing the scanning of the enemies in camera mode. This experience has helped me think more in depth about implementing a core mechanic of a game, but also about getting the necessary feedback and assistance other more pressure than usual.
One of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had at this game jam was the fact that I should not implement overcomplicated solutions immediately, but rather think of the simplest thing (and if that’s not possible, just ask a peer or two for some ideas).
My other challenge was implementing the various menu UIs, while also designing them. As I am not a UI Designer by trade, this was a interesting challenge where I got to experiment a tad bit “artistically”, which felt more liberating compared to working with blueprints. This part was quite meaningful as well due to me exploring this more “artistic” side and it was great to hear the good feedback from my peers on it.
